It can sometimes be difficult to find ways to stay healthy, so we’ve asked members of our Baylor College of Medicine community to share what they do in their daily lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Julina Ongkasuwan, assistant professor of otolaryngology, gives us her tips.
Q: What healthy decisions start your day?
A: TRY not to drink soda or junk food. This is hard for me. I pack my lunch and breakfast the night before.
Q: What is your go-to healthy breakfast?
A: Whole wheat bread and unsweetened peanut butter and water
Q: What is your favorite type of exercise?
A: Cycling, running
Q: What keeps you motivated during your workout? (music, tv, phone call, etc.)
Q: What activities do you do when you can’t fit in a full workout?
A: With a baby and a toddler I don’t really have time to work out, so I usually bike to work and take the stairs
Q: What is your favorite healthy snack?
A: Seasonal fruit and cheese
Q: Do you take vitamins and if so, which ones?
A: Pre-natal vitamins (because I’m still breastfeeding)
Q: What do you include in your child’s lunch?
A: Fruit, string cheese, low fat milk, chicken breast
Q: What hobbies do you have to help you relax?
A: Don’t really have time for them now, but I used to knit, sew, craft (guess I make things for my toddler). Going to start training for half-marathon which is in January. Ha! We’ll see how that goes…

A: Pepper Tree or Salad Extravaganza
Q: Do you use a pedometer or Fitbit and what is your daily step goal?
