In focus: New Allied Health students join Baylor

While August is typically time to welcome students, Baylor College of Medicine’s School of Allied Health students arrived a bit early.

Here’s a breakdown of the newest Allied Health students, which includes the Physician Assistant program, Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics program, and Nurse Anesthesia program,  who joined Baylor in June.

While a new group of students in the MSOP program was welcomed aboard, the inaugural class of students celebrated the completion of their basic science and didactic coursework with their White Coat Ceremony, held on campus June 18.

All 18 students successfully passed their exams and will now enter into the 18-month clinical residency and research portions of the program, where they provide full-time care to those needing their service under the direct supervision of an assigned clinical preceptor.

Each student received a white coat from his or her faculty advisor. The white coat is symbolic of the transition into a new career as an integral part of the healthcare team for those with limb loss or disability. The event marked the first year of the Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics Program in the School of Allied Health Sciences at Baylor.
